Job Title: Laboratory Supervisor – Histology

We are currently seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Laboratory Supervisor – Histology to lead and oversee the daily operations of the histology laboratory. The ideal Laboratory Supervisor – Histology candidate will bring strong leadership skills, technical expertise in histological procedures, and a commitment to quality and compliance in laboratory practices.

As the Laboratory Supervisor – Histology, you will be responsible for managing histology staff, ensuring optimal workflow, and maintaining the highest standards in specimen processing, embedding, microtomy, staining, and slide preparation. The Laboratory Supervisor – Histology will also ensure that all laboratory protocols and safety standards are adhered to, while promoting continuous improvement and efficiency.

The Laboratory Supervisor – Histology will coordinate the scheduling of personnel, maintain inventory of reagents and supplies, and monitor equipment performance to guarantee accurate and timely diagnostics. Additionally, the Laboratory Supervisor – Histology will play a critical role in training new employees, evaluating staff performance, and facilitating professional development to maintain a highly skilled histology team.

A successful Laboratory Supervisor – Histology will collaborate with pathologists, laboratory technologists, and administrative staff to support diagnostic services and ensure seamless communication across departments. The Laboratory Supervisor – Histology will also participate in internal and external quality assurance programs, prepare for inspections, and maintain regulatory compliance with all accrediting bodies.

Requirements and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Biology, or a related field

• Certification as a Histotechnologist (HTL) or Histotechnician (HT) by ASCP or equivalent

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in histology, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role

• In-depth knowledge of histology laboratory practices, techniques, and instrumentation

• Familiarity with laboratory regulations and safety protocols (e.g., CLIA, CAP, OSHA)

• Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills

• Proficiency with laboratory information systems and quality control procedures
